Guiding Principles
When we collect personal information from you, we generally require only the basic information needed for us to provide the service or product requested. With every transaction or interaction, there is basic information that we must have to complete the requested service.

At the same time, we endeavor to deliver an enhanced and personalized on-line experience to improve and expand the ways we communicate what we do, what we have to offer, and to gather feedback from you on a wide range of topics. The success of these endeavors depends on knowing more about you.

Security
“Perfect security” does not exist on the internet, and there is always some risk in transmitting information electronically. As we deem appropriate, we use security measures consistent with industry standards, such as encryption technology, to protect your information. The payments and other personal information you provide through this Site when making payments by credit card or via PayPal on this Site are made through a secure platform provided by PayPal, Inc. PayPal provides the following assurances about the security of your personal information and payment information. PayPal encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to PayPal’s computers using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128 bits (the highest level commercially available). Once your information reaches PayPal, it resides on a server that is subject to administrative, physical, and electronic safeguards. PayPal’s servers sit behind an electronic firewall and are never directly connected to the internet.

Friends of Burke Mountain, Inc. has entered into an agreement with Rocket Science Group, LLC, d/b/a/ MailChimp (“MailChimp”) to collect and store your email address and to produce email communications from our organization to you. MailChimp provides the following information about its security levels. “The entire MailChimp application is encrypted with SSL.”

This Site employs cookie technology.  A “cookie” is a small piece of information that a website asks your browser to store on your hard drive. This information helps the website “recognize” you instantly. Cookies recall information you entered before so you don’t have to reenter it again, tell us what pages on the Site you previously visited, and help us determine whether you came to the Site from a particular internet link. If you prefer, you may disable cookies on your browser settings. You may still use our Site, even with cookies disabled.
