Friends of Burke Mountain, Inc. is pleased to announce that our February 25th gala, “Celebrate Burke”, raised over $10,000 for charitable organizations in the Greater Burke Area. Friends of Burke Mountain will allocate donations received as follows:

  • 50% ($5,166), to Burke Racing, Inc., a Vermont non-profit, tax-exempt organization affiliated with Burke Mountain Academy. Burke Racing is taking the lead in raising private and public funds to finance infrastructure upgrades at Burke Mountain to support the Mountain as a U.S. Ski Team Development Site. These upgrades include a high-speed T-bar and increased snowmaking capacity that will benefit racers and recreational skiers alike.
  • 30% ($3,100), to Kingdom Kids, a non-profit foundation dedicated to the enrichment of the lives of children residing in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont through skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking as well as other outdoor recreational activities.
  • 20%, ($2,066), to Friends of Burke Mountain, Inc., a Vermont non-profit, tax-exempt organization founded following concern over Burke’s receivership, is dedicated to bringing the extended Burke community together to help assure that the Court-appointed receiver finds a new owner who will respect Burke’s unique natural environment and establish strong community ties. Friends of Burke Mountain, Inc. is committed to helping maximize the Mountain’s potential as a greater community asset by supporting the Ski Team Project and providing resources to help address issues identified by local leaders.

We wish to thank the more than 140 event attendees, our volunteers, Jodi Flanagan, Jessica Sechler, Kevin Mack, Burke Mountain and the Burke Mountain Hotel and Conference Center staff, and our speakers, Jory Macomber, Head of School at Burke Mountain Academy, and Tiger Shaw, two-time Olympian and President and CEO of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. A special thank you to the individuals who donated to and participated in the silent auction, and to the Wicked Smart Horn Band for their generous and crowd-pleasing performance.

It was an incredible night and we hope to make it an annual event.
